Jen Southern is an artist and senior lecturer at Lancaster University. She works with places, people and technologies to try to understand how they are connected. Her current work focuses on humans as always inextricably connected with living things, environments and technologies. In her practice she grows things, from grass and meadows, to machine learning models, and most recently in experiments with crystals. I have exhibited my work in festivals, galleries, museums and public spaces in the UK and internationally, for over 30 years. I am the associate director of the Centre for Mobilities Research, where an analytic focus on how people, things and information move produces interdisciplinary perspectives on globally important issues.
